What's New at the Hirsh Health Sciences Library

Jim Fraylick, Hirsh Health Sciences Library Volunteer

The Hirsh Library staff was saddened recently to lose long time friend and volunteer  Jim Fraylick.  Jim spent many years working in the library and his friendly manner was welcomed and much appreciated.  Jim led an amazing life and library staff loved to hear about his many interesting and extensive travels.  If you were planning a trip somewhere, you made sure to mention your plans to Jim and would be sure to get some good advice on places to visit.

Jim was a family man. He loved to talk about his wife Dee, their two sons and daughters in law and, of course, his grandson and granddaughter. The library staff were often treated to many photos of family reunions and events.

Jim started out volunteering at the library in the 1980’s when the library was actually located in the old M&V building. He spent a lot of time helping to keep our journal stacks orderly and was game for other projects whenever he was needed. Jim will be missed by all.

More information on Jim’s life can be found here.

Calling all Friedman students: Please help the library help you!

The Hirsh Health Sciences Library wants to know how we can offer you resources and services that best meet your needs. To help us, all you need to do is complete a brief survey.

As a “thank-you,” the first 50 survey participants will receive a packet of organic basil seeds compliments of the New Entry Sustainable Framing Project (free pesto all summer long - yum!).

We will also be raffling signed copies of Miriam Nelson's books (thanks Dr. Nelson!) and some nifty Friedman coffee mugs compliments of the campus bookstore. Please complete the survey by April 30 to be eligible for the drawing. Thank you!
