Computing

Tisch Library offers 37 public access computers with Internet connections stationed throughout the library, with an additional 8 computers dedicated to e-mail access located on the lower level. There are also 4 public access computers in the Music Library and 15 in the Electronic Resource Center.

In addition, network ports are available allowing members of the Tufts community to have portable PC access to the Internet. Nomadic computing information is available electronically as well as in print at the reference desk.

Tisch also has wireless networking capability that enables wireless ethernet cards installed in users' laptop computers to communicate with the access points in the buildings. Most public areas in the library have good or excellent signal coverage. A limited supply of ethernet cards is available at the circulation desk to be loaned for use with your portable PC.

Information packets available at the reference desk explain the procedures involved in authorization, setup, and use of the wireless network, as well as the network ports.

Users can access the library and most of its electronic resources from their home or office. All remotely available electronic resources can be accessed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
