Library Policies

TUFTS UNIVERSITY ALUMNI BORROWING PRIVILEGES

Ginn Library borrowing privileges are extended to Tufts University Alumni following verification of their status through the University Office of Development. Alumni borrowing privileges are for one year at a time. Borrower cards must be presented to borrow all Library materials.

Fletcher Alumni borrowers initially register their I.D. cards at the Ginn Library. Non-Fletcher Tufts Alumni register at the library associated with the college they attended (for example, Medical Alumni register at the Health Sciences Library). Any changes of personal information, such as change of address, should be done through that same library.

Once registered, alumni may borrow from other Tufts University Libraries. Borrowing privileges may vary at different Libraries. Contact the appropriate library for information.

Books- 14 days
Reserve Materials- 2 hours

RENEWALS

Books - 3 renewals
Reserve Materials - no renewals

Renewals may be completed in person, by phone to the Circulation Desk (617.627.3935), or on-line (library.tufts.edu). Borrowers will not be able to renew their materials if they have been requested by another patron.

RECALLS

Ginn Library materials may be recalled after two weeks use. Recalled materials cannot be renewed. Borrowers will be notified of recalled items via email.

OVERDUE FINES

Books - $0.25 day/item
Recalled Materials - $1.00 day/item
Reserve Materials - $0.25 15 minutes/item

Borrowers will be notified via email of any fines. All fines must be paid at the conclusion of each semester. Outstanding charges are sent to the Office of the Bursar.

REPLACEMENT CHARGES AND FINES

All borrowers are responsible for overdue fines, replacement charges, and any other fees incurred as a result of unreturned /lost/damaged materials. Borrower accounts become delinquent when fees are in excess of $50.00. All borrowing privileges for delinquent accounts are suspended until the charges are resolved.

TUFTS UNIVERSITY ALUMNI ONLINE DATABASE ACCESS

Alumni have access to two online databases, Expanded Academic ASAP and ABI/Inform. Register to be part of the Fletcher Alumni Online Community through the Fletcher Alumni Office, then use your ID and password to access these databases at the Fletcher Alumni Library Link.
