For Faculty: Email TABLE OF CONTENTS Alerts
Would you like to receive table of contents alerts for new journal issues? The Edwin Ginn Library subscribes to several services that make this possible. You select the journals you are interested in, and when a new issue is published, you are notified by email, with a table of contents of the new issue. In most cases you can click through to the full text of the article from the email.
Below are instructions for setting up TOC alerts in three databases that cover hundreds of journals. We recommend using ISI for political science journals, ABI/Inform for business and financial journals, and Current Law Journal Content for law journals.
Subscribing is fairly easy to do, but if it looks confusing, follow these easy steps. Simply click the link, print out the document, and check off the titles you wish to receive. Then, send the printed document to Jane Morris at the Ginn Library.

A librarian would also be happy to meet with you and go through the online process together. If you have any questions, or want help, email Jane Morris or call X73858.
ISI offers TOC alerts for a large database of journals.
This is the best choice for social and political science journals.
To set up table of contents alerts for the journals in this database, go to the ISI website. On the right side of the page, click register, if you are a first-time user. Register with an email address and your chosen password, then go back and log in.
On the right, in the area labeled My Journal List, click the link to set up TOC alerts. Click the Add Journals button and browse the list by subject or by title. Check the box in the column labeled Send Me Table of Contents Email Alert for each journal you want. Then click the Submit selections button. Alerts will be sent for a year and can easily be renewed.
When the email alerts arrive, there will be a link for each article.
Clicking the link takes you to the full record for the article. On the
right, the
button will take you to a
page that gives your retrieval options, links to the full text, if available,
and links to the record for the journal in the catalog, or to ILLiad to
order the article on interlibrary loan.

ABI/Inform is the best choice for business and financial journals.
From the Ginn Library Home page, go to Journals and Databases. Click on the A-Z list; go to ABI Inform. You will need to enter your Tufts ID number.
Use the Publications tab at the top to find the publication you want, by searching or browsing the list.
Click on the name of the publication and use the Set up Alert button to receive alerts of new issue contents.
An email will be sent to you with a link that you must click to confirm that you wish to receive the alert.
When the email alert arrives, there will be a link for each article in the new issue, taking you to the complete article if full text is available in ABI/Inform.

Current Law Journal Content is a free service from Washington and Lee Law School.
At the Current Law Journal Content home page click subscribe at the top of the page. The list of journals is extensive. You can click the uncheck all option and then add checks just to those you wish to receive TOCs for. There are also buttons to re-sort the list by impact factor or by country if that will make it easier for you.
After you have checked all the journals you want alerts for, type your email address in the box and click Save Profile.
Email alerts are sent every Sunday night for this service. The email contains a link for new US issues and a link for non-US issues. Clicking one of the links will bring you to a list of titles.
If you click on a title you will see a list of the new articles in that issue. Next to each article there will be a W&L logo, and clicking on it brings you to a page with direct links to the article in Westlaw and Lexis. Here is an example for a recent journal issue:
When you click on the Lexis or Westlaw link and log in, you will be brought to the full text of the article. Ginn Library has a faculty log-in for Lexis and individual log-ins can be created for faculty to Westlaw. If you do not have one or both of these, please contact Jane Morris.
