About the Library

The Edwin Ginn Library of The Fletcher School is one of the largest specialized libraries in the field of international affairs. The library’s collection of primary and secondary reference and research materials has been developed with attention to the content of The Fletcher School curriculum and the research interests of students and faculty. The library contains over 120,000 volumes, including 900 current periodicals, serials, and foreign newspapers. The Tufts University Libraries share over 15,000 electronic journals and databases.

Ginn Library's collection covers the fields of international law and organizations; human rights; economic and political development; international energy resources and environmental matters; international security and peacekeeping; conflict negotiation; international business and finance; and the uses of the sea and outer space.

The Ginn Library is located on the first floor of the Mugar building. Our mailing address is 160 Packard Street, Medford, MA 02155.

United Nations and Other International Organizations Documents

The Ginn Library has League of Nations and United Nations documents, and publications from numerous international organizations in print and online. The library maintains a large collection of international treaty documents, and also has case reports of the International Court of Justice, the European Court of Justice and the European Court of Human Rights.

Periodicals and Newspapers

Periodicals since 1980, both bound and current issues, are shelved alphabetically in the first floor stacks. The library receives newspapers from many countries; daily issues are shelved at the back of the reading room.

Special Collections

The papers of Edward R. Murrow and of Ambassadors John Moors Cabot and Philip Kingsland Crowe have been deposited in the Ginn Library. They are now physically housed in Digital Collections and Archives in the Tisch Library building, so that they may be properly preserved, and they are available for research there.
