ILLiad Instructions
Members of the Tufts community can use ILLiad to request material not available at Tufts or through the Virtual Catalog of the BLC libraries. We strongly encourage you to check the Virtual Catalog first before using ILLiad. Typically, Virtual Catalog books arrive within 3 business days of you submitting the request. ILLiad may take between 1 - 3 weeks to receive materials. To use ILLiad, click on the ILLiad link on the Library Services page; log in with your UTLN and password (what you use for Tufts Webmail). You will be prompted to create an account the first time you log in.
GMAP students only should fill in the Campus/Local address fields with the address to which you want items mailed. After choosing The Fletcher School for your school affiliation, you can choose GMAP as your Department. For your preferred delivery method choose Mail to address. You do not need to provide an alternate mailing address.
On the ILLiad main page, once you have logged in, you can request material
by clicking on the material type and filling in all required fields. The
button to submit the request is at the bottom of the page. When the requested
material arrives, you will be notified by e-mail to pick it up at the
Circulation Desk. GMAP students will receive their items by mail. The
borrowing period for these items is 28 days, with no renewal option.
Currently, most journal articles will be sent in hard copy, but some ILLiad
libraries will deliver articles in PDF format by e-mail or through your ILLiad account. You will be able
to log into your ILLiad account to view these electronically delivered articles.
You have 30 days to read and/or print your materials.
ILLiad allows you to track requests that have been made in order to estimate how long materials will take to arrive at Ginn. Additionally, you can cancel requests up until the time they leave the lending library. You can view your request history to see the titles you've requested in the past. Periodically, however, these lists are purged from the system.
