Print Cards
Fletcher students receive a copy/print card good for 500 prints or photocopies at no charge. Summer school students receive cards goods for 100 prints or photocopies. Each student is responsible for the safekeeping of the card; please sign your name on the card in the space provided. These cards are distributed at the Library's Circulation Desk -- please bring your Tufts/Fletcher ID card.
Additional copy cards are available for purchase -- checks only, payable to "Trustees of Tufts College" -- in the Library Office during normal office hours. Additional copies can be added to a card at the dispenser next to the Circulation Desk. The dispenser accepts bills.
Black and White Printers
There are two black-and-white printers in the Ginn Library, two in the Mugar Computer Lab, and one on the first floor of Cabot. All of these printers can print front-and-back (also known as "duplex"). Duplex printing costs $.07 per side printed, while one-sided printing costs $.10 per side. A 2-page document printed on two sheets of paper deducts $.20 from your pay-for-print card, but only $.14 if you print it on the front and back of one sheet of paper.
Color Printer
A color printer is available at the Olin Media Center in the Olin Building (the next building up Packard Avenue, above the Cabot Intercultural Center).
Printing from public computers
You can print from the library or computer lab PCs. You can also print from a laptop that has been registered with TuftsOnLine. (See Laptop Printing below.)
When you have a document to print from a library or lab PC:
- Select "Print" from the "File" menu.
- If you wish to print on both sides of the page:
- Click "Properties" on the Print window
- On the "Layout" tab, under the "Print Both Sides" heading, select "Flip on Long Edge"
- Click "OK"
- If you wish to print multiple pages per side:
- Click "Properties" on the Print window
- On the "Layout" tab, next to the "Pages per Sheet" heading, select the number of pages you wish to print on each sheet.
- Click "OK"
- Confirm the number of copies and page range and click "OK."
- Go to the print station computer next to the printer and enter the same username you used to log on to the computer where you printed the document.
- Select the document you wish to print. Its name will be the file name it had on the computer where you printed it.
- The cost of the print job is displayed on the screen. Insert your copy card into the card reader.
- If you are ready to print and have the cost deducted from your card, click the "Print" button.
Once you have sent a document to the printer, you have two hours to print it before it is deleted from the print queue. If you print a document from the Ginn Library, Mugar Computer Lab, Eaton Computer Lab, Cabot 1, or EPDC, you can print it at any of those locations. You do not have to release the document in the same location that you printed it.

Printing from the laptop is similar to printing from the public computers.

- A window will pop up requiring you to input a username and print job name. These can be anything that you will remember.
- Go to the print station computer next to the printer and enter the same username you designated in the pop-up window.
- Select the document you wish to print. Its name will be the job name you designated in the pop-up window.

Walk-in support is also available Monday through Friday at Eaton Lab.
