Policies

The Fletcher community may borrow equipment through the Ginn Library Circulation & Reserves Desk or through the Associate Director for IT.  Most items circulate for 4 hours, exceptions to this rule must be agreed upon at the time of initial borrowing with the Manager of Access Services or the Associate Director for IT.  Contact IT@Fletcher for more information. Renewals must be made in person or by telephone (617-627-3852) at least 15 minutes before the item is due back.  One-time renewals are permitted as long as the equipment has not been reserved for another patron.  The fine for a late return is $1.00/hour.

When a piece of equipment is returned, the circulation staff will visually inspect it for obvious signs of damage and will make sure that all the components (power cords, cables, etc.) are returned together.  The number of components is noted on the carrying case.  If any component is missing, the borrower will be asked to locate and return them.  If the pieces are lost, or the equipment is damaged, the library will remove that item from circulation until the damaged equipment is repaired or missing components are replaced.  Let the Manager of Access Services or the IT Manager know of missing or damaged components.  Circulation desk staff will also plug in and power on the laptop and/or projector to make sure the laptop powers on to the Windows login screen and the projector bulb illuminates.
