This database of evidence on the effects of common clinical interventions can be browsed by condition and searched at the British Medical Journal's website. It provides a concise account of the current state of knowledge, ignorance, and uncertainty about the prevention and treatment of a wide range of clinical conditions based on thorough searches of the literature.

This collection of clinical textbooks can be browsed by clicking on the book jacket or searched using natural language or Boolean logic. It includes atlases, compendia of diagnostic tests, drugs and evidence-based treatment reviews, as well as works on biochemistry, cardiology, dentistry, endocrinology, internal medicine, neurology, nutrition, oncology, psychiatry, public health, and pulmonology.

Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews      [Indexes and Abstracts]

Regularly updated systematic reviews of the effects of healthcare with implications for clinical practice. The database also contains protocols for reviews in development. Ovid MEDLINE links from articles reviewed by these systematic reviews via its EBM Topic Review links. Because of problems with our PubMed icons, users should search the database directly for known citations.

DARE Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effects      [Indexes and Abstracts]

This database on Ovid contains critical assessments of systematic reviews from a variety of medical journals. Covers topics such as diagnosis, prevention, rehabilitation, screening, and treatment.

DynaMed      [Web Sites]

DynaMed is a clinical reference tool created by physicians for physicians and other health care professionals for use primarily at the 'point-of-care'. It is updated daily and monitors the content of over 500 medical journals and systematic-review databases. Its references link to some free articles but otherwise to PubMed records. MEDLINE contains over 11 million journal citations and abstracts in the fields of medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, healthcare systems, and pre-clinical sciences. Ovid's version links from citations to its evidence-based-medicine databases, articles available full text @Tufts, and ILLiad. Click More Limits to restrict results to subsets for bioethics, dentistry, complementary medicine and others; particular publication types or age groups; and other factors.

Medline In-process (Ovid)      [Indexes and Abstracts]

This holding file for citations waiting to be assigned their MESH subject headings and entered into MEDLINE also includes publishers'in-process records that may never be entered into MEDLINE. Most records have abstracts.

Pediatric Care Online      [Web Sites]

This trial subscription from Uncommon Medicine runs through 2009. The American Academy of Pediatrics integrates its Textbook of Pediatric Care with a quick-reference guide for point-of-care topics, its policy statements, patient handouts, clinical calculators, and other tools. One can select segments to download to handhelds running Palm OS or Windows Mobile or access it via browsers on mobile devices.

PubMed (customized for Tufts)      [Indexes and Abstracts]

The National Center for Biotechnology Information's databases, including PubMed (MEDLINE), OMIM, GenBank, PubMedCentral, and the National Library of Medicine's catalog, can be searched by selecting them from Entrez's leftmost drop-down menu. PubMed covers the journal literature in the fields of medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, healthcare systems, pre-clinical sciences, and bioethics. Full-text coverage of Tufts-licensed journals is available via the blue Tufts icon on its Citation and Abstract displays. Click the Tufts tab above displayed results to limit to our holdings. Direct links to the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, which Tufts licenses via Ovid, are lacking.
