| A Tufts username or UTLN (Universal Tufts Login Name) is required for access to electronic resources at Tufts, including: TUSK, our wireless network, and Tufts University email.
- Clinical faculty of the School of Dental Medicine should ask their department chair to have Kevin O’Dea assign them a Tufts username (UTLN).
- Clinical faculty of the School of Medicine (TUSM) should follow the procedures below.
TUSK Access - all Tufts staff, faculty, clinical faculty and students automatically have access to TUSK with their Tufts username (UTLN). If you need to put up coursework on TUSK and need write access, please contact TUSK.
In-Person Requests
In-person requests can be made at the Library IT Service Desk on Sackler 5 in the Hirsh Health Sciences Library at 145 Harrison Avenue, Boston, (617) 636-2947.

Bring your valid Tufts ID, hospital ID, or other proof of status.

Complete the Request for Access to Tufts University E-resources form. Copies are also available
in the Library Systems Office on the 6th floor. Be sure to read and agree to the University Responsible Use Policy on the second page
of the application.

Generally, the Tufts username (UTLN) can be created within 24 hours,
but often it can be done while you wait. If it cannot be
completed while you wait, we will email your Tufts username (UTLN) with instructions on how to change the password. Your password will not be delivered in this email. We can give your password over the phone or via text message.
- You should change the initial password and set a security question at the Trumpeter Email Services site at https://trumpeter.tufts.edu.
To set your password: Login with your Tufts username and password, click the change button next to the Password field, and follow these instructions.
To set a security question: Login with your Tufts username and password, click the set button next to the Security Question field, choose a question, enter and verify an answer, and click the Set Security Question button.
Fax Requests Fax requests
can be sent to the Library Systems Office at (617) 636-4039:
- Print and complete the Request for Access to Tufts University E-reources form.
- Make a legible copy of your valid Tufts ID or hospital ID.
- Fax completed, signed forms with the copy of your ID to: 617.636.4039, ATTN: Library Systems Office.
- Once we have received and verified your paperwork, a Tufts username (UTLN) and/or Tufts University email account will be generated for you,
generally within one business day.
- We will email your Tufts username (UTLN) with instructions on how reset your password. Your password will not be delivered in this email. We can issue your password over the phone or via text message. You also have the option of picking up your Tufts username (UTLN) and password at the IT Service Desk in the Learning Resource Center on the 5th Floor of Sackler.
