Learning Objectives

You will learn to

• Locate textbooks and reference books using the library's catalog.

• Use authoritative Websites in order to familiarize yourself with the wealth of government (MEDLINEPlus, Google U.S. Government) and professional society resources (American Dental Association) available on the web.

• Use Clinical Resource@Ovid and STAT!Ref to locate answers to clinical questions.

• Perform basic searches on ISI Web of Science to learn how to locate research articles in the dental and medical literature.

Assignment

• Librarians will lead scheduled workshops in the Learning Resource Center located on the 5th floor of the library. Workshops are on held on Mondays from 3:15 – 4:30pm. Students who cannot attend their assigned session may request an alternate by contacting their assigned librarian.

• Download and complete the Treasure Hunt Form:
  • Use only the resources featured in the library workshop
  • Include your full name, date, and the name of your librarian
  • Save the file as LastnameFirstname.doc, e.g. DoeJane.doc
    
    
• Send the completed treasure hunt as an email attachment to your assigned librarian; be sure to email yourself a copy. Check Request a Return Receipt in Tufts Webmail's Message Composition when you submit the assignment to your librarian.
  
  
• If you do not receive confirmation within one week, please re-send it. The treasure hunt is due by midnight, one week after your assigned session. Late submissions will have 2 points automatically deducted. Your corrected assignment will be returned via email byDecember 14 with your librarian's comments.

Grading

This assignment accounts for 10% of the grade for Ethics & Professionalism. One point will be given for attendance and one point for each correctly answered question on the Treasure Hunt form. Please be aware that late submissions will have 2 points deducted from the final grade.
