Part I
Search Ovid's MEDLINE
and EBM databases in five
queries on your topic to find and cite using appropriate search strategies as demonstrated in the library workshop:
- A review of the literature on diagnosis of your disorder.
- An article available at Tufts that deals with the epidemiology
of your chosen disorder in the U.S. or a region of your
choice
- An article on the prevention of your disorder available electronically at Tufts.
- An article on your topic by a Tufts author found by searching the Institution field. If none exists, select one from any institution in Boston or your home country
- A Cochrane Systematic Review or Article Review by DARE or ACP Journal Club on the treatment for the disorder. Use the EBM Reviews limit from Ovid MEDLINE. If this limit yields nothing, search for a meta-analysis or randomized controlled trial (RCT) on your topic.
MEDLINE Search Techniques
- Use MeSH and subheadings whenever possible.
- For suggested MeSH and subheadings and other information about searching MEDLINE, see MeSH for Dental Epidemiology.
- Apply the specified limits.
- As you complete each MEDLINE search, email yourself the selected citation using Ovid's Results Manager as follows
- Check (Citation Title,Author,Source) under Fields.
- Check Include Search History
- Click Email button under Actions and complete the next screen.
- For detailed instructions see Managing Ovid Output.
- Copy and paste your search histories and citations into a Word document and number them accordingly.
Part II

- For a guideline, browse or search http://guideline.gov. Copy/paste the Bibliographic Source(s) information located at the top of each guideline onto your submission form.
- For statistics, see Dental Epidemiology Resources. Cite the webpage on your submission form by including the following:
- Author/agency responsible for the site
