How to Create Full-Text Links to Tufts Library
Licensed Material
- To ensure that the Tufts community can access articles both on- and off-campus, it is necessary to construct a url that first goes to the libraries' proxy server where the Tufts username and password are entered enabling authentication and login to the licensed resource.
- Below are instructions for creating full-text links to both journal articles and books from some of the Tufts Libraries licensed resources.

- At the top of the pdf of the article look for:
- Concatenate to base url.
MDConsult - Books & Journals (except the Clinics series)
- Search title on Tufts Online Catalog
- Right click on the Electronic Access link, then click Copy Link Location
- Clinics series - proxy names are suppressed in the catalog. Check Central Database.
Ovid Full-Text Journal Articles
- Begin with: http://www.library.tufts.edu/ezproxy/ezproxy.asp?LOCATION=ovid&ISSUE=
- Paste Ovid's Accession Number for the article after ISSUE=
- To locate the AN number
- For articles available as pdf files, search Your Journals@Ovid database for the title. Click the Complete Reference link which includes the AN number.
- For articles available in html, click Ovid Full Text; the AN number is located at the end of the page/article.
- Note: the AN number is NOT the Unique Identifier.

- Copy URL and use as full-text link
Ovid Books & Chapters
- Books
- Linking to the beginning of a book
- Search title on the Tufts Online Catalog
- Right click on the Electronic Access link, then click Copy Link Location
- Example:

- Chapters in books:
- Locate chapter
- Click Email Jumpstart at top of page
- On next screen copy URL and use as full-text link
R2 Digital Library
Linking to a book:
- Search title on Tufts Online Catalog
- Right click on the Electronic Access link, then click Copy Link Location
Linking to content:
- Go to the chapter or section
- At top right of frame locate an icon that looks like a link which is Add to MY COURSE LINKS
- If there are no icons you must go up in the content until you reach a "page" with icons
- Click on Home tab>Course Links>My Course Links
- Locate your content and click Export.
- Choose to open content in Notepad.
- Copy, up to the comma, the url displayed. Note that it should end "Library=Medicine"
- Example: http://www.r2library.com/contents/content_CourseLinks.aspx?ResourceID=885&SectionID=ch0011s0415&Library=Medicine
- Combine with the proxy url: http://ezproxy.library.tufts.edu/login?url=

STAT!Ref
Linking to content

- Log into STAT!Ref and navigate to the content you wish to link to.
- Click Get a Link (above title of resource) and copy the url.
- Example: http://online.statref.com/Notes/ResolveNote.aspx?NoteID=36819&grpalias=Tufts
- Concatenate it to base url
Linking to a Book
ScienceDirect
- Begin with the base url:

- Locate the DOI number which should be in the area above the abstract and append it to the base url.
Springer/Synergy
The url created using the instructions below opens a webpage that contains the pdf link on righthand side.
