The Health Sciences Library (HSL) provides
collections and services that
support the educational, research, and patient-care missions
of the University,
Tufts Medical Center, and other affiliates. HSL
staff assists
students, faculty and staff in its resources and helps them
to effectively
use the biomedical literature throughout their careers.
Founded in 1894, the HSL moved into the Sackler Center in
1986. Its renovation in
2004 expanded meeting and study space, a cafe and additional
computing facilities.
The newly renovated Fourth Floor of the Sackler Center houses
the library’s
reference and reserve collections, current journals, InfoCirc
Desk, public computers
with Internet access and network printing, study areas, photocopiers,
a copy-card
dispenser, and a café by the entrance.
The Fifth Floor houses the media and circulating-book collections,
Learning
Resource Center (LRC), offices of Tufts University Sciences
Knowledgebase
(TUSK) and Library Systems, and study carrels. The LRC’s
two computer labs
provide Internet access and network printing, a variety of
word-processing,
spreadsheet, database and presentation-graphics programs,
and other software that
supports the campus curricula.
The Sixth Floor houses titles A-E of the bound journals,
offices of the library’s
Administration, Information Services, and Collections Management,
a photocopy
room, and study carrels. The Allan D. Callow Room contains
a collection of
works on the history of science and medicine, imprints prior
to 1914, and
historical artifacts, which may be viewed by contacting the
Administration Office,
617.636.2481.
The Seventh Floor houses titles F-Z of the bound journals,
study rooms, classrooms,
carrels, and photocopiers.
