Accessing Ovid Citations
To display the results of your search click
on the Display button.

To select citations, check their boxes.

Printing, Saving, Exporting and Emailing
Citations
To specify output options, utilize the Results Manager at the left side of the screen.

Under Results leave Selected Results as the default.
Under Fields
- Choose Complete Reference for exporting to bibliographic software
- Customize your output with the other options or by clicking on Select Fields.
Under Result Format
- Leave Ovid the default unless you are exporting or prefer another format.
- Use Direct Export for EndNote & other bibliographic software.
Check Include Search History to send your search strategy along with the citations.
Under Actions click Print Preview, Email, or Save and proceed accordingly.
Printing Citations
- Click on Print Preview in the Actions section.
- Use the browser's print options to print .
Saving Citations
- Select Save in the Actions column
to download records as a file.
- Choose your platform's linefeed.
- Check Include Search Strategy to record the search
strategy.
- Click Continue.
- In the Save dialog box:
- Choose a location for the file.
- The file name defaults to cites.txt; change
"cites" to whatever is suitable.
Exporting Citations to Bibliographic
Software
- Select Direct Export in the Result Format column and then Save in the Action column.
- Select either:
- Export results to RefWorks
- Export results to Endnote, Procite, or Reference
Manager

Emailing Citations
- Click on Email in the Actions section.
- You may enter addresses in series with commas between
addresses. This is useful for sending a backup copy to yourself.
- You may replace Ovid_Online@ovid.com with your
own address.
- You may enter your own header in the Subject box.
- Use the Annotations box to add your own message.
- Include Search History should remain checked.

Accessing Full-Text
Articles
- The red message following a citation indicates Tufts holdings regarding that journal.
- If available, click on the blue Ovid Full Text link for electronic
access to articles.
- If there is no blue Ovid Full Text link on the
righthand side, click Find It@Tufts to determine
how to access the journal article.

If Ovid displays a screen saying click this
link to open the document, do so, then check your system
tray for another active window.

Ovid Full Text Articles:
Printing, Emailing & Saving
Each Ovid full text article must be printed
or saved individually.
- Click Ovid Full Text.
- PDF files: Menu on righthand side will list FULL
TEXT (PDF) if the article is available as a .pdf
file. Download Acrobat
Reader to read pdf files.
- HTML files: Graphics must be saved separately.
Printing
- PDF files: Use the Acrobat Reader printer icon.
- HTML files: Select Full size for readable images
and tables.
- Click Continue.
- Use browser's print option.

Emailing
- PDF files: Use Save function in Acrobat Reader, then attach
file to email
- HTML files: Select Email Article Text above the
article.
- Follow instructions for Emailing
Citations.
- Graphics are not included with emailed text. Use the
browser's image-saving function.
- Click on thumbnail of graphic to display full
size.
- Firefox: Right click on graphic, choose Save
Image As.
- Internet Explorer: Right click on graphic, choose
Save Picture As.
Saving
- PDF files: Use Save function in Acrobat Reader.
- HTML files: From citation, click Ovid Full Text
link, then select Save Article Text above the article.

- Save as text file or as HTML.
- Graphics are not included. Use the browser's image-saving
function.
- Click on thumbnail of graphic to display full size.
- Firefox: Right click on graphic, choose Save
Image As.
- Internet Explorer: Right click on graphic, choose
Save Picture As.
