  • The Hastings Center
    Founded in 1969 as an independent, nonprofit, nonpartisan organization, the Hastings Center explores ethical questions in health care, biotechnology, and the environment.
  • Kennedy Institute of Ethics (Georgetown University)
    The largest university based group of faculty members in the world devoted to research and teaching in biomedical ethics and other areas of applied ethics. The Institute also houses the most extensive library of ethics in the world, the National Reference Center for Bioethics Literature and produces bibliographic citations relating to bioethics for the online databases at the National Library of Medicine.
  • Internet Healthcare Coalition
    Consumer advocacy organization supports research involved in developing guidelines for ethical uses of the Internet in health care. Presents a body of knowledge and opinions from leaders in the areas of online privacy, ethics, and use of technology to improve health care.
  • President's Council on Bioethics
    The Council's purpose is to advise the President on bioethical issues related to advances in biomedical science and technology.
  • Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS)
    Organization of citizens and scientists focusing on a variety of environmental and social issues. Website serves as a tool for disseminating research results to policymakers, media, and the public.
  • University of Washington School of Medicine - Ethics in Medicine
    Developed as part of the Bioethics Education Project, a collaborative effort within the University of Washington School of Medicine.

International

  • Canadian Bioethics Society
    Founded in 1988 by the amalgamation of the Canadian Society of Bioethics and the Canadian Society for Medical Bioethics, the Canadian Bioethics Society has a membership composed of health care administrators, lawyers, nurses, philosophers, physicians, theologians, and others concerned with the ethical and humane dimensions of health care.
  • Danish Council of Ethics
    Provides advice to the Danish Parliament and raises public debate about the ethical problems raised by the field of biomedicine. Includes links to publications available in English.
  • Centre for Human Bioethics
  • IRB Forum: The Institutional Review Board
    Promotes the open and respectful discussion of ethical, regulatory, and policy concerns in human subjects research. Site includes many links and IRB forms, as well as members only discussion forum.
  • International Bioethics Committee
    An international body dealing with the subject of bioethics, the Internal Bioethics Committee is a forum for debate and reflection, particularly with regard to the implementation of the Universal Declaration on the Human Genome and Human Rights
  • World Health Organization (WHO)
    Provides information on WHO's Ethics and Health Initiative, which examines ethical issues raised by activities throughout the organization, including the regional and country offices, and develops activities regarding a wide range of global bioethics topics.
