  • Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act - HIPAA
    Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services
    Passed by Congress in 1996, HIPAA protects health insurance coverage for workers and their families when they change or lose their jobs. It also provides rights and protections for employers when getting and renewing health coverage for their employees. HIPPA requires the Department of Health and Human Services to establish national standards for electronic health care transactions and national identifiers for providers, health plans, and employers. It also addresses the security and privacy of health data.

    Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality
    A set of large-scale surveys of families and individuals, their medical providers, and employers across the United States. MEPS is the most complete source of data on the cost and use of health care and health insurance coverage.

    Commonwealth of Massachusetts Executive Office for Administration and Finance
    An independent public authority created to implement significant portions of the 2006 health care reform legislation. The Connector assists qualified Massachusetts adult residents with the purchase of affordable health care coverage if they don’t already have it.

    The Commonwealth's site covers worker's compensation, programs for the uninsured, coverage types et al.

    National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA)
    PDF document contains plan-specific information on clinical performance, accreditation and member satisfaction from 273 organizations, collectively covering some 63.3 million lives, that voluntarily submitted their performance results to NCQA. Includes national, regional and state averages, as well as benchmarks, on specific measures of care and service.
