Computer Labs at the Hirsh Health Sciences Library

Hours

The computer labs in Sackler 510 and 514 are open during the library's normal business hours.

All public machines provide access to the internet, email, and software that supports the curricula of the Health Sciences Campus.

Software Available at the HHSL Library

How to Reserve a Computer Lab

  1. Please review the below Computer Lab Policies.
  2. Go to http://roomscheduling.tufts.edu.
  3. Click on "Login" and login using your Tufts username and password.
  4. Click on "Reservations"and then select "Boston Space Request".
  5. Enter the required information in the fields marked with a red asterisk, using the following fields to view the computer labs:
    • For "Setup type", select "As Is" (Note: "As Is" must be selected to view the available computer labs)
    • For "Room Type", select "Computer Lab".
  6. Click on "Find Space".
  7. Adjust the time and dates as needed to find an available time for your event.
  8. Click on the Select button (the green box with a white plus sign) next to the room you would like to use and then click "Continue".
  9. Filll in the required information on the "Details" tab.
  10. Click Submit.

If you have specific questions about reserving the room or if you require specific software for your reservation, please contact the library at hhsl-rooms@tufts.edu.

If your event will exceed the capacity for one of the computer labs, please contact the library at hhsl-rooms@tufts.edu to request a mobile computer lab setup after you have reserved a room in the Sackler building that has the requisite capacity.

Viewing the Availability of the Computer Labs

If you are interested in viewing when a computer lab is available:

  1. Go to http://roomscheduling.tufts.edu.
  2. Click on "Login" and login using your Tufts username and password.
  3. Click on "Browse" and Select "Browse for Space".
  4. Click on "Filter".
  5. Select "Computer Lab" for "Room Type".
  6. Select Apply.
  7. Click on the Details Tab and fill in the required information.
  8. Navigate to the date and time that you would like to view.

Computer Lab Policies

  1. Labs may be reserved by Tufts staff and faculty or Tufts Medical Center staff for academic course support and training only. Lab space will be available on a first-come-first-serve basis.
  2. Instructors are responsible for testing software to be used in the labs in advance to ensure that it works as desired.
  3. Individuals are prohibited from loading software onto the lab computers. If software is needed for a particular class, please contact the library at hhsl-rooms@tufts.edu at least two weeks prior to your class.
  4. If the labs are not reserved, they are available for walk-in use by students.
  5. Individuals needing access to a computer during times that the labs are reserved for teaching may sit in on classes at the discretion of the teacher.
  6. Please save your data to CDs or USB drives. All data on the computer will be erased when the computer reboots.
  7. All users of the library computers are expected to adhere to the Computer Use Policies.
