This textbook can be searched in Books@Ovid with natural language and Boolean combinations. Its chapters are indexed and may be browsed.

Haz-Map  2000?   [CD Rom]

Haz-Map is an occupational toxicology database designed to link jobs to hazardous job tasks which are linked to occupational diseases and their symptoms. It is a relational database of chemicals, jobs and diseases. The Haz-Map Jobs table is based on the 1997 Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) system. The Industries table is based on the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS). The Diseases table is based on the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-9). Information from textbooks, journal articles, and electronic databases (HSDB, ACGIH Documentation of TLVs, ATSDR Toxicological Profiles, NIOSHTIC, and others) was classified and summarized to create the database.

The classic reference work for synthetic organic chemistry. The online version includes editions 1 through 4 which were published over the period 1909-2003. Provides access to approx 146,000 experimental procedures, 580,000 target compounds, and 780,000 references dating back to 1835. Royal Society of Chemistry     [Electronic Journals Collection]

Includes both primary and review journals covering all branches of chemistry. The library subscribes to most of these journals, however, for the few non-subscribed journals a user name and password, will be requested effectively blocking one from access.

Institute for Scientific Information, 1974- The online version. Provides author, subject and citation access to journal articles and book reviews in the sciences. Coverage from 1974. Part of Web of Science.

Science of Synthesis     [Encyclopedias, Dictionaries, and Handbooks]

Science of Synthesis is the new edition of Houben-Weyl. It was launched in 2000 and will continue to expand into new topics to cover the whole field of synthetic chemistry by 2008. Science of Synthesis provides critically evaluated synthetic methods for specific transformations. The methods are organized by product class and are currently available for organometallic and heterocyclic compounds. Structure searching is available using a JAVA applett, ISI/Draw or ChemDraw as you prefer; consult Getting Started Manual as the ISIS/Draw and Chem Draw options utilize plug-ins for structure searching.

ScienceDirect     [Electronic Journals Collection]

A database of over 1,700 journal titles, covering the life, physical, technical and social sciences. Titles start with the initial volume of publication; all titles have tables of contents and abstracts, and most have full text articles. Tufts has access to approximately 800 titles from 1995 to date. The titles formerly published by Academic Press commence with 1993. Green boxes indicate subscribed titles, white boxes are for unsubscribed titles, yellow boxes are complementary, and white with red boxes are partner web sites. Please note ScienceDirect no longer provides access to unsubscribed titles. Articles from unsubscribed titles must be obtained from Tufts Document Delivery Services or purchased directly from ScienceDirect.

SciFinder Scholar  1907 -   [Indexes and Abstracts]

A proprietary software client that provides access to Chemical Abstracts, a major database for all of chemistry. SciFinder Scholar provides for both regular and substructure searching. Updated version 2004 includes access to MEDLINE and OLD MEDLINE databases. To use, the software needs to be downloaded onto your PC (at least a Pentium processor) or Mac (needs Power PC processor) within the Tufts campus. At this time home use is not supported by Tufts. This database is to be used for research purposes only and there is a limit on how many records may be downloaded. Commercial use is forbidden. Tufts users have access to 3 ports, simultaneously, on a 24 hour basis. Users should log out as soon as searches are completed.

Scopus  1966 -   [Indexes and Abstracts]

An index to the scientific technical and medical literature covering 14,000 scholarly titles including 2,700 titles in Social Science, Psychology, and Economics. Updated daily. Full-text linking is available wherever the technology and the access arrangements permit and continues to expand as such arrangements allow. Integrated web searching and patent searching by Scirus.

Springer Link     [Electronic Journals Collection]

Springer Verlag. An electronic information service provided by Springer Verlag, providing access to their e-journals (460+) and some book series. It is organized into Forms or Subject Libraries, 10 in all with a focus on Science and Technology, some Economics.

Springer Protocols     [Primary Sources]

Electronic database of reproducible laboratory protocols in the Life and Biomedical Sciences. Compiles protocols from Humana's book series Methods in Molecular Biology, Methods in Molecular Medicine, Methods in Biotechnology, Methods in Pharmacology and Toxicology, and Neuromethods, as well as from a number of Laboratory Handbooks, such as The Biomethods Handbook, The Proteomics Handbook, and the Springer Laboratory Manuals.
