Subject specific reference materials can help you to gain broad-based knowledge of your field, through vocabulary, factual information, additional references, and bibliographies. Some suggested print sources:

Doing a subject
search in the catalog
allows you to retrieve specific types of sources. For example:

Mergent
Online
Database resource, from the publishers of Mergent Manuals, which
allows the user to construct business and financial reports in
tabular form on 25,000 companies worldwide. Searchable EDGAR filings,
country profiles and company news are also available.
Stat-USA
(How
to search)
An online service of the most recent international trade information
available from the National Trade Data Bank, the National Economic,
Social & Environmental Database, the Economic Bulletin Board,
Global Business Procurement Opportunities, and the Bureau of
Economic Analysis.
Statistical
Universe 1973- 
Statistical information from the U.S. government, including the
Statistical Abstract of the United States and other sources. Online
version of American Statistics Index, Statistical Reference Index,
and Index to International Statistics.
Disclosure
Updated weekly. Corporate and financial information on more than
11,000 corporations whose shares are traded in the United States.
Edgar (How
to search)
For 10K annual reports, etc.
Hoovers Online (How
to search)
Comprehensive business information searching that includes
business news, public and private company information, company
factsheets, financial statements, market and IPO Data, industry
overviews, competitive landscapes, and executive biographies.
The advance search allows for the compilation of company and
executive lists.

You can search for books about business in the library catalog in several ways:
Type in words that describe your topic; for example:
If you know the Library of Congress subject heading used to describe your area of research, you can search for a particular subject. If you don’t know the Library of Congress Subject Headings, speak to a librarian for help. Some examples of subject searches are:
Social responsibility of business
Books on business can be found under the Library of Congress call number range HF1-HG9999. For help in browsing the collection, consult with one of the reference librarians.
To locate books in other Boston Library Consortium libraries and request them, use the Boston Library Consortium Catalogs. To locate books in many libraries throughout the world, use WorldCat.

Inform (How
to search) 1985-
Includes the full text of articles in over 500 business and management
journals, both trade and scholarly.
Business & Company
ASAP 1980-
Provides company profiles, rankings, investment reports, histories
and news.
EconLit
(How
to search) 1969-
Indexes and abstracts over 400 economics journals, books, dissertations,
and working papers.
General
Business File ASAP 1982-
Covers all aspects of business and management, including company
and industry information. The database provides bibliographic
references, abstracts or full text for articles from 800 business,
economic, management, trade and industry publications; profiles
of nearly 200,000 public and private companies; industry descriptions
based on Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) codes; and abstracts
or full text of investment reports and forecasts for more than
11,000 U.S. and international companies and for 53 industries
prepared by Wall Street and international brokerage firms.
International Bibliography of the Social Sciences
The IBSS has more than two million references to articles and books going back to 1951 in the social sciences. It is produced by the London School of Economics and Political Science.
LexisNexis
Includes articles from major American newspapers and regional
papers, statistics, company financial information, country and
state profiles, and medical information. Major source for federal
case law and statutes, the U.S. Code, law reviews, and state legal
research.
New
York Times Historical Archive 1851-three years prior to current
date
Includes full-text and full-image articles dating back to the
first issue of the NYT in 1851; the collection includes digital
reproductions of every page from every issue--cover to cover--in
downloadable PDF(r) files.
NewsBank
InfoWeb (How
to search) 1983-
NewsBank provides full-text access to the major urban Massachusetts
newspapers, in addition to United Nations documents (1998-current).
Included are: The Boston Globe (1980-current); The Boston Herald
(1997-current); The Worcester Telegram & Gazette (1989-current).
Public
Affairs Information Service Bulletin (PAIS) 1972-
Database consists of articles, books, conference proceedings,
government documents, book chapters, and statistical directories
about public affairs. Abstracts for most records from 1985; updated
monthly.
Wall
Street Journal 1982-
Includes the full-text file of The Wall Street Journal from 1982
to present (with daily updates).
Electronic Journals
Periodicals held by Tufts are listed in the catalog. Holdings in all formats are unified in one record, and most entries for journals held in digital format contain a hyperlink to the source; searches in the catalog enable one to follow these links directly. A supplementary list of electronic journals is on the Tisch homepage under Electronic Journals. For an example of a catalog search for a journal, set the catalog’s Type of Search to "Journal Title," and type in The Journal of Business.
Many business journals held in digital format are parts of Project Muse or JSTOR. Others can be found in Science Direct or Blackwell-Synergy. Although these databases include search engines for the journals they contain, the indexes listed above are the most comprehensive and authoritative sources for the literature of the discipline, and frequently link directly to the journal article itself.

Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, and is located at 10 City Hall
Avenue, Boston MA 02108, (617) 523-0860. Directions: From Park
Street MBTA station, walk 3 blocks down Tremont Street towards
Government Center; take a right onto School Street; take first
