The Handbooks cover a broad set of topics in a particular field of economics. Each chapter provides professional researchers,

Hoovers Online (How

Comprehensive business information searching that includes
business news, public and private company information, company
factsheets, financial statements, market and IPO Data, industry
overviews, competitive landscapes, and executive biographies.
The advance search allows for the compilation of company and
executive lists.
International Financial Statistics
Online database of financial statistics from over 200 countries
published by the International Monetary Fund. Annual entries begin
in 1948; quarterly and monthly entries begin in 1957.
Mergent
Online (How

Database resource, from the publishers of Moody's Manuals, which
allows the user to construct business and financial reports in
tabular form on 25,000 companies worldwide.
Statistical
Universe 1973- 
Statistical information from the U.S. government, including the
Statistical Abstract of the United States and other sources. Online
version of American Statistics Index, Statistical Reference Index,
and Index to International Statistics.

Development Indicators (World Bank) (How
to search)
Statistical data for over 550 development indicators and time
series data for over 200 countries and 18 country groups. Data
includes social, economic, financial, natural resources, and environmental
indicators.

If you know the Library of Congress subject heading used to describe your area of research, you can search for a particular subject. Some examples are:
Books on statistics can be found under the call number range HA1-4737. Books on economics can be found from HB 1 through HJ 9940.
To locate books in other Boston Library Consortium libraries and request to borrow them, use the Boston Library Consortium Catalogs. To locate books in many libraries throughout the world, use FirstSearch's WorldCat index.

Provides bibliographic references and original abstracts for materials
related to aging and middle age, from an interdisciplinary perspective

Provides indexing and abstracting to statistical information published
by U.S. government agencies. Has companion microfiche with full-text:

CEPR (Centre for Economic Policy Research) Discussion Papers
The Centre for Economic Policy Research publishes over 250 Discussion Papers each year.
CEPR Discussion Papers are the primary method for the distribution of research carried out
by the Centre, and represent timely and original thinking on important issues in economics.
Every paper since 2000 is online.

Women’s Studies International, 1972-present
Covers the core disciplines in Women’s Studies to the latest scholarship in feminist research.
Includes the areas of sociology, history, political science & economy, public policy, international relations,
arts & humanities, business and education. Over 2,000 periodical sources are represented.
Electronic journals
Periodicals held by Tufts are listed in the catalog. Holdings in all formats are unified in one record, and most entries for journals held in digital format contain a hyperlink to the source; searches in the catalog enable one to follow these links directly. A supplementary list of electronic journals is on the Tisch homepage under Electronic Journals. For an example of a catalog search for a journal, set the catalog's Type of Search to "Journal Title," and type in Journal of Economic Literature.
Many economics journals held in digital format are parts of Project Muse or JSTOR. Others can be found in Science Direct or Wiley Interscience. Although these databases include search engines for the journals they contain, the indexes listed above are the most comprehensive and authoritative sources for the literature of the discipline, and frequently link directly to the journal article itself.
iPOLL Databank
The iPOLL Databank from the Roper Center Public Opinion Archives focuses on national scope surveys and contains not only the complete question text and responses to half a million questions from as far back as 1935, but also information such as study abstracts, links to questionnaires, datasets and citation information where available.

Working Papers
The National Bureau of Economic Research Working Papers are now
available online going back to November of 1994. Aimed at professional
economists, these papers represent the original research of more
than 600 leading scholars in their fields.

Featuring the full text of selected IMF Working Papers, as well
as the IMF Dissemination Standards Bulletin Board (information

Lincoln Institute of Land
Policy
This non-profit educational institution focuses on the teaching
and study of land policy, including economics of land use. Includes
education, research, and fellowship program information, as well

Urban Land Institute
A non-profit education and research institute that is dedicated
to providing responsible leadership and education in the use of
land in order to enhance the total environment. A source of information
on urban planning, growth, and development.
