Video at Other Universities
Our research of what other universities are doing with streaming video revealed that most are engaged in application of this technology similar to us. More to the point, we have uncovered a noticable pattern of determination to begin to use or increase use of streaming video technology.
JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY
This page from John Hopkins lays out the complete goal for their new network - "J-Stream" - which is dedicated to streaming video. In addition, Hopkins is streaming panel discussions on important social topics (i.e., SARS outbreak).
UNIVERSITY OF WYOMING
The University of Wyoming Archives not only uses streaming video to capture celebrations/performances, but they now have a Digitial Audio-Visual Collection which includes streaming news clips and marking events in which the school has been involved; i.e., Pres Kennedy's visit to Univ of Wyoming, a protest by their students in 1969, etc.
BROWN UNIVERSITY
Brown University is part of the MSDN Academic Alliance program which serves as a curriculum repository for Brown, and which uses streaming video for training. Brown's Music Dept is using streaming quicktime (which I couldn't get to work) to give students an understanding of particular musical terms as used within the music.

This article from their Learning Technologies Center demonstrates one professor's initiative to allow students the ability to review her complete original lectures and PowerPoint presentations via her class web sites. This serves to maximizing information and access while providing clarity in communication. Streaming video of her videotaped lectures, along with additional material she may have presented or posted, is available after each class meeting via these web sites
