Directions
From the southwest, west, and northwest via Routes 2, 3,
9, Interstate 95, or the Massachusetts Turnpike (Interstate 90),
exit onto the Boston circumferential, Route 128 (Interstate 95),
and proceed to its intersection with Route 2. Proceed east on Route
2 to the junction of Routes 2 and 16. Turn left onto Route 16 east
(Alewife Brook Parkway). Follow Route 16 through two full traffic
lights. Take the next right, a sharp turn, onto Powderhouse Boulevard.
Proceed to Packard Avenue, the third left, which leads onto the
campus. Take the second right onto Professors Row. Proceed .1 mile
to stop sign at Latin Way. Path to the library is on the left.
From Boston, the south, and the South Shore, follow the
Southeast Expressway (Route 3 north) to Interstate 93 north** to
exit 32 (Medford Square). Follow the exit ramp to Medford Square.
At the blinker at the end of the ramp, turn left onto Main Street.
*Follow Main Street straight for approximately 1/2 mile. At the
traffic lights turn right onto Harvard Street. Proceed straight
through to the rotary. Keeping Tufts' athletic field to the right,
take the second right off the rotary onto Powderhouse Boulevard.
At the blinking light turn right onto Packard Avenue. Take the second
right onto Professors Row. Proceed .1 mile to stop sign at Latin
Way. Path to the library is on the left.
From the north via Routes 1, 3, 28, Interstates 95 or 93,
the recommended approach is via Route 128 (Interstate 95), to its
intersection with Interstate 93. Go south on Interstate 93 to exit
32, Medford Square. Proceed to the center of the square, turn left
onto Main Street, and refer to the directions in the preceding paragraph.*
From Logan Airport by subway, board the airport shuttle
bus to the Airport Station on the MBTA Blue Line. Take the Blue
Line inbound to Government Center; then change to the Green Line
westbound and go to Park Street station. Change again to the Red
Line outbound to Davis station and board either the 96 (Medford
Square) or the 94 (West Medford) bus to Tufts. Subway tokens are
$1.00. The bus fare is .75 cents. There is also a free Tufts shuttle
which runs during the academic year (see schedule.)
The shuttle stops at the Davis Square MBTA Bus Stop (College Ave.
side) and at the Mayer Campus Center across the street from the
library. The library is located on the corner of College Avenue
and Professors Row; entrance is from Professors Row across from
Latin Way.
From Logan Airport by car, follow signs for the Sumner
Tunnel and Boston as you leave the airport. Proceed through the
tunnel in the left lane. Follow signs for Interstate 93 north. Follow
the directions in the second paragraph.** From the bus terminals
located on Atlantic Avenue and the Amtrak terminal in South Station,
Boston, follow signs to the MBTA Red Line South Station subway trains.
Board an inbound train to Davis station. Board either the 96 (Medford
Square) or the 94 (West Medford) bus, which will take you to Tufts.
The library is located on the corner of College Avenue and Professors
Row; entrance is from Professors Row across from Latin Way.
Parking: A limited number of metered
spaces are available on Latin Way across from the library.
Additional spaces area available on Packard Avenue and in
Visitor Parking. To reach the Visitor Parking area, continue
up Packard Avenue beyond Professor's Row and turn right at
the top of the hill. There is also a new Parking Garage in
Dowling Hall located at 419 Boston Avenue (driving
directions.) The garage opened for business in June of
2000 and is open to visitors for $5 per visit. Just drive
your car into the garage, park, and enter the building. Then
purchase a token from any token machine located in Dowling
Hall (the elevator lobbies on floors 3, 5, and 7, as well
as the Parking Office on the first floor.) When you're ready
to leave, you'll need to insert your token in a machine in
order to drive your car out of the garage. You can call the
