Position Title: Microform/Current Periodicals Student Library Assistant for Fall 2008 Semester

Job Overview: Student employees are responsible for staffing a public service desk, assisting users with locating and using material and equipment, maintaining the department, and working on department projects. Employees are also cross-trained as Reference Student Library Assistants.
Job Duties:
- Microforms: shelf reading, shifting, labels, shelving, knowledge of equipment
- Current periodicals: shelf reading, shifts, labels, shelving
- Daily tracking reports
- Searching the library catalog
- Working on department projects: statistics, exhibits, large shifting of material, labeling, working with other department staff members as needed
- Cross-trained as a Reference Student Library Assistant: reference statistics, shelving materials, shifting, projects, maintaining the department
Requirements: Excellent customer service skills, reliability, ability to work in a team environment while also being able to work independently. Computer knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is necessary. Knowledge of Photoshop and Adobe is desirable.
Work Shifts: Shifts are assigned based on student availability, and cover all the hours the Reference Desk is open during the semester.
Hours Per Week:Shifts are usually 2-3 hours in duration with an average of 6-10 hours per week. Availability requirement is two weekday evenings and one weekend shift. Shifts can take place any day of the week.
