World Factbook
The CIA's handbook of basic geographical and statistical information on the nations of the world. Includes maps.

Country Studies from the Library of Congress
This website contains the online versions of books previously published in print copy by the Federal Research Division of the Library of Congress under the Country Studies/Area Handbook Program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Army. Check the Tufts library catalog for the print copies available in the Tufts libraries.

Europa World Year Book
Electronic, full-text version of the print series. This title provides lengthy essays covering politics, government, history, economics and international agencies for every country in the world.

Public Documents Masterfile  1789-Present
An electronic guide to federal, state, local and international public documents, spanning over 200 years of publication, in a single searchable database. Contains two types of records, full bibliographic records and brief records comprised of index terms or pointers to public documents cumulations or catalogs.

Avalon Project at the Yale Law School
A digital library of pre-18th to 20th century documents relevant to the fields of law, history, economics, politics, diplomacy and government, with annotations, indexes, and links to supporting materials.

Eurodocs
Primary historical documents from Western Europe.

EU Official Documents
From the official EU web site, the resources here include EU treaties and law, consolidated texts of in-force legislation, and other documents from the European Union, Commission and Parliament.

International Constitutional Law
Full-text and information on constitutions, from some 78 countries. Well-organized and rich in content.

League of Nations: Statistical and Disarmament Documents
Northwestern University Library's digital collection contains the full text of 260 League of Nations documents. The League existed from 1919 to 1946.

United Nations Treaty Collection
Access to the full-text collection of over 1450 volumes of treaties. This is a subscription database that requires entry of a Tufts ID for use off-campus.  Includes access to the UN Treaty Series and the Multilateral Treaties Deposited with the Secretary General.

Foreign Government Resources on the Web
University of Michigan Libraries’ award winning website. Includes links to foreign government websites by region; background information; comprehensive listings of foreign government web sites; constitutions, laws, and treaties; embassies; news; and statistics.

Governments on the WWW
Comprehensive database of governmental institutions on the web: parliaments, ministries, offices, law courts, embassies, city councils, public broadcasting corporations, central banks, multi-governmental institutions etc.

Foreign Governments
From Northwestern University Library. Provides an alphabetical list by country of all foreign government webpages, including national ministries, parliaments, and central banks.

Nations of the World from the Law Library of Congress   Provides links the country's Constitution and government, legal guides and general country information.

European Union Homepage.

Economic Commission for Europe
(UNECE)This section of the United Nations "strives to foster sustainable economic growth among its 56 member countries. To that end UNECE provides a forum for communication among States; brokers international legal instruments addressing trade, transport and the environment; and supplies statistics and economic and environmental analysis."

Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) 
APEC focuses on three key areas:  trade and investment liberalisation, business facilitation and economic and technical cooperation.

Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)
The ASEAN Declaration states that the aims and purposes of the Association are: (1) to accelerate economic growth, social progress and cultural development in the region and (2) to promote regional peace and stability through abiding respect for justice and the rule of law in the relationship among countries in the region and adherence to the principles of the United Nations Charter."

Organization of American States (OAS)
The Organization of American States (OAS) brings together the nations of the Western Hemisphere to strengthen cooperation on democratic values, defend common interests and debate the major issues facing the region and the world. The OAS is the region’s principal multilateral forum for strengthening democracy, promoting human rights, and confronting shared problems such as poverty, terrorism, illegal drugs and corruption."

African Union
(AU)  Created to accelerate the process of integration in the continent to enable it play its rightful role in the global economy while addressing multifaceted social, economic and political problems compounded as they are by certain negative aspects of globalization.

United Nations Home Page
The purposes of the United Nations, as set forth in the Charter, are to maintain international peace and security; to develop friendly relations among nations; to cooperate in solving international economic, social, cultural and humanitarian problems and in promoting respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms; and to be a centre for harmonizing the actions of nations in attaining these ends.

Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD)  
The OECD brings together the governments of countries committed to democracy and the market economy from around the world to: support sustainable economic growth; boost employment; raise living standards; maintain financial stability; assist other countries' economic development; contribute to growth in world trade

International Court of Justice
Cornell Law Library is now the official mirror website for the Americas for The International Court of Justice (Court, or ICJ). The International Court of Justice, also known as the World Court, is located in the Hague, Netherlands. Founded in 1946 to replace the Permanent Court of International Justice, it is the principal judicial body of the United Nations.

International Monetary Fund
Featuring the full text of selected IMF Working Papers, as well as the IMF Dissemination Standards Bulletin Board (information about economic and financial data disseminated by member countries).

United Nations Environment Programme
Homepage of the UNEP, whose mandate is "to provide leadership and encourage partnership in caring for the environment by inspiring, informing and enabling nations and peoples to improve their quality of life without compromising that of future generations."

World Bank
The World Bank is one of the world’s largest sources of development assistance. Its primary focus is on helping the poorest people and poorest countries. This website provides an overview of how the Bank uses its financial resources, its highly trained staff, and its extensive knowledge base to help developing countries onto paths of stable, sustainable, and equitable growth.

International Monetary Fund Balance of payments, interest and exchange rates, trade and banking statistics; tables for every country.

World Development Indicators (World Bank) (How to search)
Statistical data for over 550 development indicators and time series data for over 200 countries and 18 country groups. Data includes social, economic, financial, natural resources, and environmental indicators.

UNdata
An online search tool for the many informational databases that the United Nations maintains, constantly being added to.

Stat-USA/Globus & NTDB
An online service of the most recent international trade information available from the National Trade Data Bank, the National Economic, Social & Environmental Database, the Economic Bulletin Board, Global Business Procurement Opportunities, and the Bureau of Economic Analysis.

Statistical Universe 1973 - Present
Statistical information from the U.S. government, including the Statistical Abstract of the United States and other sources. Online version of American Statistics Index, Statistical Reference Index, and Index to International Statistics.

Eurostat
Statistics provided by the European Commission of Europa, the gateway to the European Union.  Not all statistics are free however.

OFFSTATS: Official Statistics on the Web (University of Auckland, New Zealand)
The OFFSTATS database provides access to free statistics from official sources on the web.  Web links   are arranged by country, region or subject.  The database can be searched by a single category, or a   combination of categories.
