Borrow From Reserves: Tisch
The reserve desk, located at the far right end of the circulation
desk, is open all hours of library operation.
The reserve desk maintains a collection of materials placed
on reserve by Arts, Sciences & Engineering (AS&E) faculty
in order to make required course reading available to a large
number of students. Information on current reserve materials
is provided online. All users must present a current, valid Tufts
ID to borrow reserve materials. The course instructor determines
the loan
period for course reserve reading material. Library users
accrue overdue fines for the late return
of reserve materials and replacement fees
for damaged, lost or unreturned reserve material.
Instructors select loan periods for library books and personal
copies from the following options:
- 3 hour: in-library use only. Photocopies are always set to
3 hours.
- 8 hours or overnight depending on checkout time
- 3 day & 7 day: item is due back at closing of the
date due
All reserve materials must be returned to the reserve desk. Reserve
material that is not returned to the reserve desk can incur overdue
fines.
Reserve materials that are returned after the time or date due
incur overdue fines. Overdue fines for reserve materials are higher
than fines charged for late return of other library materials
because of the high demand for reserve items. Charges are posted
to the user’s library account when the material is returned.
Library users can pay reserve fines at the Tisch circulation
desk. Cash, checks and points plus are accepted as payment.
All users are responsible for replacement fees for lost, damaged
or unreturned reserve materials. Replacement fees are posted to
the user’s library account. Library users can resolve these
charges at the Tisch circulation desk. Cash, checks, points plus
and Interdepartmental Requisitions (IDR) are accepted as payment.
