How to Find a Journal Article

Journals are indexed by general and subject specific databases. A journal can also be indexed by mutiple databases. Use these resources to research a topic. Look for links on citations that connect to the full text of an article online.

General Databases

  • Database Multisearch - use Database MultiSearch to simultaneously search a selection of Tufts online resources. Resources include the Tufts library catalog; numerous full-text, subject-specific databases; and interdisciplinary databases covering dissertations, images, newspaper articles and reference materials.

  • Google Scholar - searches the Web for scholarly material, linking to library catalogs for books and the full text of articles (may be available from Tufts-licensed providers or for a fee from publishers). For articles, follow the "Get This Item at Tufts Link." For books, click on the Library Search link and go to the Tufts Libraries catalog (in the upper right-hand corner). Off-campus users must set up their Scholar Preferences to include Tufts University in order to have direct access to the library’s resources. In Library Links, type Tufts and then click on Save Preferences (in upper right-hand corner).
