Print Resources

  • Index Veterinarius is one of the most useful and extensive print resources available for researching the veterinary literature. Published monthly, it indexes over 1300 international veterinary journals in many languages, as well as books, conference proceedings and theses. The articles are listed by both subject and author. The Index Veterinarius print collection is located at the index table next to the Circulation Desk at the Veterinary Library beginning with Volume 1, 1933 through Volume 67, 1999. The most current veterinary literature can be found online using CAB abstracts.

Online Resources

  • OVID Medline Plus  allows the user access to a multitude of databases which provide journal citations and abstracts, and, in some instances, full-text articles on most clinical topics. You or your group may attend MEDLINE training at scheduled times throughout the semester or by appointment with a librarian.The databases provided by OVID include (but are not limited to):
    • CAB Abstracts: covers significant research in the fields of agriculture, forestry, human health, nutrition, animal health, and veterinary medicine.
    • Medline: produced by the National Library of Medicine (NLM); covers the biomedical literature and includes allied health, biological and physical sciences, humanities, and information sciences as they relate to medicine and health care.
    • Biological Abstracts (=BIOSIS): covers life science journal literature including coverage of topics in agriculture, biochemistry, biomedicine, biotechnology, genetics, botany, microbiology, pharmacology, and zoology.
    • AIDSLine: produced by the National Library of Medicine (NLM); covers literature on research, clinical aspects, and health policy issues related to AIDS.
  • Agricola : produced by the National Agricultural Library (NAL); provides citations to agricultural literature, including animal and veterinary sciences, entomology, plant sciences, aquaculture and fisheries, and farming and farming industry.
  • FirstSearch   : produced by OCLC, providing access to a wide range of subjects in 39 databases.
  • Ingenta - offers access to article summaries from over 20,000 publications linked to the full textof over 4,500 titles. Full-text access is set by Ingenta's publisher partners. Individual subscribers, or individuals within institutions that subscribe, can access the full text of their publications for free. Non-subscribers can, for the majority of articles, pay-per-view choosing from electronic, fax or Ariel delivery.
  • Community of Science : Community of Science (COS) Expertise is a large web network of comprised of detailed professional information for nearly 400,000 scientists and scholars worldwide.
  • Web of Science : Citation indexes including Science Citation Index, Social Sciences Citation Index, and Arts and Humanities Citation Index.
