- Borrowers must have a valid TCSVM library account to check out items.
- Patrons can not place a hold on Reserve Items.
- If a book or A/V item is lost or damaged, the borrower will be responsible for a $90.00 replacement fee.
- If a reserve A/V is lost or damaged, the borrower will be responsible for a $150.00 replacement fee.
- ARC Card holders may check out non-reserve materials only. (Academic & Research Collaborative of the Central Massachusetts Regional Library System )
- BLC Card holders may check out non-reserve materials only. (Boston Library Consortium)
- Special User Card holders may check out non-reserve materials only. Please ask for more information.
- Non-Reserve books are located in the VET BOOK STACKS and can be checked out for 2 weeks.
- Items can be renewed up to 3 times (Library Catalog - My Account) unless there is a request for that item by another patron.
- Journals are located in the VET JOURNAL STACKS on the second floor of the Library and are for In-Library Use only.
- Non-Reserve audiovisuals are located in the VET A/V STACKS and can be checked out for 1 week.
- Items can be renewed up to 3 times (Library Catalog - My Account) unless there is a request for that item by another patron.
- Curricular-Related CD-ROMs are located behind the Circulation Desk and are available as Noncirculating Reserve or Overnight Reserve items at the discretion of the professor.
- Noncirculating Reserve CDs are available for use in the library's computer lab only; a valid Tufts ID must be left at the Circulation Desk.
- Overnight Reserve items have 1 Red Reserve Stripe and are located in the VET RESERVE STACKS.
- The item(s) may be checked out for overnight use and returned no later than 9:00 AM the following day. If the item(s) are checked out on Friday, they are due on Monday morning. In the case of a holiday or holiday weekend, the items are due the morning after the holiday or the "weekend."
- Patrons may take out 2 Overnight Reserve books and 1 Overnight Reserve video at a time.
- Overnight Reserve items must be returned to the Book Deposit Box by the library entrance or the Circulation Desk. Reserve items must NOT be returned to the Book Deposit Box located inside the Foster Hospital for Small Animals.
- There are NO RENEWALS on Overnight Reserve Items.
- Late returns may result in a fine of $15.00 per day.
- At least one copy of each course reserve book is kept on Noncirculating Reserve in the VET RESERVE STACKS. An extra copy may be on Overnight Reserve.
- Noncirculating Reserve items have 2 Red Reserve Stripes and a Library Use Only sticker. They are located in the VET RESERVE STACKS.
- Noncirculating Reserve A/V, CD-ROMs, Slides, Journals, and other course materials are kept behind the Circulation Desk. A valid Tufts ID is required to use items kept behind the circulation desk.
- There is a 3-hour limit on the use of the Noncirculating Reserve item(s) unless there are no requests for the item(s).
- Reference books have 1 White Reference Stripe and are for In-Library Use only.
- They are located in the VET REFERENCE area.
- Instructors usually send a copy of each course syllabus to the library.
- Syllabi have 2 Orange Reserve Stripes and are for In-Library Use only.
- Syllabi are located near the VET A/V STACKS.
Patrons with a valid TCSVM student, faculty, or staff library account can make special arrangements to check out a Non-Circulating item (journal, reference book, Noncirculating Reserve book) for purposes of special reproduction (slides, color photocopies, etc.).
- A maximum of 3 items may be borrowed.
- The borrower must leave a valid Tufts ID, license, passport, etc. at the Vet Library until the item is returned. If an item is being taken to the Vet School's Educational Media department, it must be returned no later than 4:30 PM. If it is not, the library will place a call to Educational Media to determine its status.
- A Special Use form must be completed for each item.
- If an item is being taken elsewhere, it must be returned within 3 hours.
- If an item is lost or damaged, the borrower will be responsible for a $150.00 replacement fee.
