Webster Veterinary Library Laptop Checkout Policy

Current TCSVM faculty, staff and students, in good standing with the Veterinary Library, are eligible to borrow a laptop from the library.

Teaching

Faculty and staff can borrow laptops for use in teaching on campus. Please...

  • Schedule a room on campus.
  • Reserve laptops at least one week in advance of the date needed by contacting Betsy Like (betsy.like@tufts.edu or x87925).
  • Arrange for pick-up, delivery and return of laptops between 8 am - 5 pm weekdays.

Check-out Procedures

  • Check out laptops on weekdays, Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm.
  • Tufts University ID is required.
  • Staff and faculty may reserve laptops.
  • Students may only check out one laptop.
  • Laptops and accessories are available on a first-come/first served basis for students.
  • Borrowers must read, agree to, sign and abide by the laptop checkout agreement.
  • Standard equipment that will be checked out is 1 laptop, 1 power cord, 1 carrying case. If requested, a mouse may also be checked out.

Loan Period/Renewals

  • Laptops can be checked out for 7 days. If not needed, they can be renewed up to 3 times, for 7 days each time.
  • The due date (and renewals, if not overdue) can be found by logging into the patron’s library account.

Returning Laptops

  • No work should be saved on the laptop. All work will be deleted when the laptop is returned.
  • Laptops and all accessories must be returned inside the Library.
  • Library staff will check to be sure all accessories have been returned and are working properly.

Replacement Charges

  • Following 2 overdue notices, the patron will receive a bill if the laptop and accessories have not been returned.
  • Charges are as follows:
    • Laptop and power cord (considered a set) = $1,500
    • Carrying case = $50
    • Mouse = $50
    • lost or damaged laptop and/or power cord = additional $50 processing fee
    • lost or damaged carrying case or mouse = additional $15 processing fee

Software

  • The following software is installed on the laptop: Adobe Acrobat Professional, ArcGIS, EpiInfo, Firefox, Google Earth, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Office 2010, Olympus WebSlide Enterprise, SPSS and VUE.
  • No other software may be installed.
