The classic reference work for synthetic organic chemistry. The online version includes editions 1 through 4 which were published over the period 1909-2003. Provides access to approx 146,000 experimental procedures, 580,000 target compounds, and 780,000 references dating back to 1835. This archive is accessible through a text-searchable table of contents and an intuitive structure template guide. Consult the Getting Started Manual for helpful information.

SciFinder Scholar for the Web is an electronic version of Chemical Abstracts starting from 1907 to the present. All types of literature are indexed including journal articles, book, patents (from 32 patent-issuing agencies) technical reports, conference papers, and e-resources. It includes more than 30 million substance records and CAS Registry Numbers. One can search the chemical literature by: authors name, research topic, substance identifier, chemical structure or chemical reaction. The complete Medline database from 1950 forward is also searchable through SciFinder. Registration is required to use this database.

Social Explorer     [Indexes and Abstracts]

Social Explorer provides quick and easy access to modern and historical U.S. census data and demographic information. The web interface lets users create maps and reports to help visually analyze and understand demography and social change throughout history. The site currently includes data from the entire US Census from 1790 to 2010, all annual updates from the American Community Survey to 2008, original Census tract-level estimates for 2006 and 2007, the Religious Congregations and Membership Study from 1980 to 2000, and 2002 Carbon Emissions Data from the Vulcan Project.
