Other Tufts Collections (Posted: November 20, 2009)
We are pleased to announce the addition of the 'Other Tufts Collections' webpage. Through this page, we are promoting existing university collections that are not associated with a library and are thus harder to discover. The pilot collection for this project is the LGBT Center collection. Keep checking back as we will be adding more collections in the coming months.
The Federal Depository Collection at Tufts turns 110 years old! (Posted: November 20, 2009)
In 1899, Tufts’ Eaton Library was designated a depository library by Senator George F. Hoar. Dorothy M. Union was the first technically trained documents librarian, and she maintained the collection for years. When Joseph Komidar became the University Librarian in 1956 he did much for the collection including assigning SuDocs numbers to the uncatalogued documents and placing them together in one section of the library. Jean Butt was the first half- time documents librarian when Tufts’ Wessell Library opened in 1965. William Olbrich, who came to Wessell in 1975, was the first full-time documents librarian. Much has happened in the history of documents at Tufts University. Please check out the lobby exhibit, which celebrates the 110th anniversary as a depository library! This exhibit will run until January 19, 2010.

EndNote and RefWorks Workshops Offered (Posted: September 22, 2009)
EndNote and RefWorks are high-powered bibliographic citation management tools that enable users to capture references, embed them in research papers, and create instant bibliographies - all of which can make the research and writing process faster and more efficient. Between September 18 and early December, the Reference staff is offering 60-minute workshops on these tools. All workshops are held in the Electronic Resources Center, Room 223.
