Circulation Policy

Patrons must have a valid Webster Family Library account to check out items. ARC and BLC members with a valid member ID, and Webster Family Library Special Users, may check non-reserve materials only.

Patrons cannot place a hold on reserve items. If a book or A/V item is lost or damaged, the borrower will be responsible for a $90.00 replacement fee. If a reserve book or A/V item is lost or damaged, the borrower will be responsible for a $150.00 replacement fee.

Books & Audiovisual

Non-reserve books and audiovisual materials can be checked out for four weeks. Items can be renewed up to two times unless there is a request for that item by another patron.

Journals

Journals are located in the journal stacks on the second floor of the library and are for in-library use only.

Laptops

Cummings School faculty and staff may borrow up to 25 laptops, students may borrow up to one. Laptops may be checked out Monday through Friday, 8am–5pm. Standard checkout includes the laptop, a power cord, a carrying case and a mouse if requested.

Laptops can be checked out for one week and renewed up to three times. No work can be saved on the laptop. Please see the Laptop Borrowing page for more information.

Overnight Reserve

Overnight reserve items have one red reserve stripe on them and are located in the reserve stacks. Up to books and one video on overnight reserve may be checked out at once for overnight use; they must be returned no later than 9:00am the following day. If the item(s) are checked out on Friday, they are due on Monday morning. In the case of a holiday or holiday weekend, the items are due the morning after the holiday or the weekend.

Overnight Reserve items must be returned to the book deposit box by the library entrance or the circulation desk, not the book deposit box located inside the Foster Hospital for Small Animals. There are no renewals on overnight reserve items and late returns may result in a fine of $15.00 per day.

Noncirculating Reserve

At least one copy of each course reserve book is kept on non-circulating reserve in the reserve stacks. An extra copy may be on overnight reserve at the circulation desk. Non-circulating reserve items have two red reserve stripes on them and are for in-library use only in the resrve stacks.

Reference Books

Reference books have one white reference stripe on them and are for in-library use only in the vet reference area.
