Laptop Borrowing

Current Cummings School students, faculty and staff in good standing with the Webster Family Library are eligible to borrow a laptop.

Checkout Procedures

Laptops may be checked out between 8:00am and 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. Tufts University ID is required and borrowers must read, agree to, sign and abide by the Laptop Checkout Agreement. The equipment that will be checked out will include the laptop, a power cord and a carrying case. If requested, a mouse may also be checked out. Separately from laptop reservations, a room reservation should also be made.

Student

Students may only check out one laptop. These are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Faculty and Staff

Faculty and staff can reserve laptops for use in teaching on campus. Please reserve laptops at least one week in advance by contacting the Library Manager. Pick-up, delivery and return of laptops should be arranged between 8:00am and 5:00pm, Monday through Friday.

Loan Period and Renewals

Laptops can be checked out for seven days and can be renewed up to three times for seven days for each renewal. The due date and renewals can be found by logging into your library account.

Returning Laptops

Laptops and all accessories must be returned inside the library. A librarian will check to be sure all accessories have been returned. Note: No files can be saved on the laptop.

Replacement Charges

Following two overdue notices, the patron will receive a bill if the laptop and accessories have not been returned. Charges are as follows:

Lost or damaged laptops and or power cords will incur an additional $50 processing fee while lost or damaged carrying cases or mice will incur a $15 processing fee.

Software

The following software is installed on library laptops and computers, no other software may be installed.
