Reference and Research Assistance

The Webster Family Library librarians can help you find specific information, show you how to research a topic and help you locate the best electronic or print resources.

Locating Library Materials

The Tufts University Library Catalog can be used to locate materials in the Webster Family Library and the other Tufts University libraries. Computers for accessing the catalog are located on the first floor of the library.

The Tufts catalog includes materials owned by all the Tufts libraries. It can be searched by author, title, subject heading, or keyword. Searches can be limited to a library or by a type of material (for example, videos). The catalog shows the item's location, call number and whether it is available. The online catalog also lists periodicals owned by all of the Tufts libraries, including recent issues and bound volumes. Most US government documents are not yet included in the online catalog.

Locating Virtual Library Materials

A growing collection of databases, electronic journals, electronic books and web sites are also available. These resources can be used to see a listing of the library's resources. Alternatively you can ask a librarian for assistance.
